An Unusual Predicament

Friday, October 17, 2008

Self-indulgence plays a very important part in balancing one’s life; but when your name is Cyrus Ruiz, it’s a part best played in small doses.

Kim Samsoon hated her name, sure. But what she hated more were the people who thought so highly of themselves, that they couldn’t see past their upturned noses and see real gems like—well, her!

After getting dumped on her wedding day and after watching her family’s bakery burn to a crisp, Samsoon thought that she had nothing more to lose; life had hit ground zero and there was no way to go but up. Unfortunately for Samsoon, life had just taken a more interesting turn—and it all began when she met Cyrus Ruiz.

A self-important man whose business is more important than his social life, Cyrus tapped Samsoon to become his newest pastry chef. But when they go on a date, he couldn’t stop himself from playing a little trick on her, a trick that’s about to ruin her life, his life, and his mother’s well-crafted plan for him. Not that he regretted the last one.

But stirring trouble into their pot of love-hate relationship might not have been the best action to take. Still, Cyrus decided to continue the charade that he started as a joke. Samsoon was now his (pseudo) girlfriend—and he loved how his mother was reacting.

As for Samsoon, she just might find a way to get this very unusual predicament to work for her.
