When a Mermaid Becomes Human

Friday, October 17, 2008

Dyesebel had finally gotten her wish to be human! But the mermaid had just discovered that learning how to walk was the least of her problems. Fredo’s a rich man in a big city and it’s going to take more than her heartbeat to help her find her prince charming.

It was said that when mermaids love, they love for all eternity and that they would do anything they possibly can to attain that love. Dyesebel had just proven that saying, and against good reason and common sense, she struck a deal with the sea witch Amafura to turn her golden tail into a pair of human legs. A deal that took away her beauty.

Thinking that this was a good deal, Dyesebel began her journey as a human, searching for her one true love: Fredo. But there was more at stake in the deal she made with Amafura, she had also risked the very existence of her adoptive mother Banak.

On land, Fredo was being forced by his father to propose to his long-time girlfriend. Which he did, but even that didn’t stop his father from giving his company position to someone else.

But Fredo had little to worry about; he was now named company president. And yet he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that the new vice president had something up his sleeves.

Under the sea with Dyesebel now a human being, Dyangga needed to punish a mermaid for the former’s indiscretions. And who better to punish than the woman who raised such a handful mermaid? Banak!

Meanwhile, above waters, Dyesebel had begun her search for Fredo. With the help of her new friend Buboy, Dyesebel crossed the seas to reach the city—and to be nearer her Prince Fredo. But the newly-turned human learned that finding her prince wouldn’t be as easy as learning how to walk, something she hadn’t even completely mastered yet.

Helped by a kindly woman, Dyesebel and Buboy had been integrated into the growing family of Mark and Paolo; and, the two provincial folks hoped, into city life as well.

But Mark wasn’t happy with the new additions to his family. And yet he agreed to his mother’s wishes to help Dyesebel find work that would suit her. Work that would put Dyesebel’s path on a collision course with that of the prince she had been running after.
